M’luru: Police apprehend Kerala man accused of killing his grandparents

Mangaluru police apprehended a man based on credible information when he was looking to sell gold ornaments at a shop on Car Street.

The arrested Ahmed Akmal (27), a resident of Kerala’s Thrissur is accused of hacking to death his grandparents and had gone absconding after robbing gold ornaments from their house at Vadekkekad.

The incident had taken place on July 23.

On Monday afternoon, the accused had come to Car Street to sell the gold ornaments. On receiving this information, Mangaluru North police station personnel immediately rushed to the spot and were able to apprehend him on the basis of the description given by the informant.

He was found to be in possession of a knife; a screwdriver; a purse containing his Aadhar card, South Indian Bank card, Axis Bank Visa Card, PAN card; Mangaluru university marks card file, passport; one pearl chain, three pairs of earrings, a gold chain with a pendant, five rings and two gold bangles. The items have been confiscated by the police.
