M’luru police firing: Kadri East PI relieved from station duty

Mangaluru: Kadri East Police inspector Shantaram Kunder has reportedly been relieved from station duty following an investigation into a viral video of the police firing on December 19 in the city.

Shantaram has been asked to report to the commissioner’s office till the next order.

In the video, a police official, allegedly Shantaram can be heard saying “no one died in police firing”. The comments led to a huge outcry with many questioning the police action.

According to sources, Shantaram in his clarification said that he was responding to a constable who said people standing in balconies of their houses may be injured in the firing.
