M’luru rain: Red alert announced
Holiday declared on Saturday for schools and colleges

Mangaluru: In the backdrop of the forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department expecting heavy rains along the coast, more than 200/771 mm of rain has been expected everyday from 20-07-2019 to 22-07-2019. Hence ‘Red Alert’ has been announced throughout Dakshina Kannada district and holiday has been declared to schools and colleges in the city on Saturday, informed Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil in a press release.
In the backdrop of the announcing of the ‘Red Alert’, the DC has directed the District Disaster Management Authority to take up precautionary measures.
Fishermen have been warned to not to venture out into the sea for fishing. Tourists have also been warned from venturing out into the sea along the beach and parents and guardians have been advised to make sure that children do not go low-lying areas, riverside or the beach.
