Mangaluru: Remona Pereira, a young student from Mangaluru, received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Remona is the only girl to win the national award from Karnataka this year. This year, 21 children from across the nation were awarded in six fields — innovation, scholastic achievements, sports, arts and culture, social service, and bravery. The award includes a medal, a cash prize of Rs one lakh, and a certificate.

Remona got the award for her achievements in Bharatanatyam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also virtually interacted with the winners of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar and awarded them certificates digitally using blockchain technology. He also called these children inspiration for the whole society.
