M’luru: Rise in Covid; 5 more schools closed in DK

Mangaluru: The Covid cases in the Dakshina Kannada district are on the rise, especially in the schools and colleges. It is gathered that 10 schools in the district have been temporarily shut so far.
After a class 10 student tested positive for Covid, only that particular class has been suspended at the school in Mangaluru North. One school in Mangalore South and 3 others in Puttur taluk have also been closed after reporting more than 5 cases.
A total of 32 students and 7 teachers in Dakshina Kannada tested positive on Thursday. As of date, 288 students and 43 teachers in the district have tested positive.
9,616 teenagers unvaccinated:
Out of the 66,497 students in the 9th and 10th grades in the district, 55,298 are eligible for vaccination. Of these, 45,682 have already taken their first dose of vaccine. As many as 9,616 children have still not got their first dose.
