The police have arrested three students in connection with the kidnapping and assault of students over a dispute arising during a football match.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Afnan, Diyan, and Salman. They were presented in court, which has placed them under judicial custody. It is reported that the arrest of 4 to 5 more students involved in the incident is pending.
The incident reportedly occurred following a football match between two prestigious colleges at Nehru Maidan on August 14. During the match, a disagreement arose between the two teams after some students supported the opposing team, leading to a heated altercation. This rivalry took a violent turn on the evening of Monday, August 19, at around 6:15 PM, near the Forum Mall in Pandeshwar.
The suspects allegedly kidnapped three students, stripped them, and filmed the assault. The video of the assault was later circulated on social media, causing widespread outrage.
