Two traffic police personnel rescued a man who fell into a drain here near Pumpwell under the influence of alcohol this morning.
The drain was about six to seven feet deep and was overflowing due to the rainwater. There was a risk that the current could have swept the man away.
Head Constable Tippeswamy and staff Wilson Fernandes of the Mangaluru City Jeppinamogaru Traffic Station noticed him and entered the drain themselves to rescue the man.
The public cooperated with the officers during the rescue.
