Mangaluru: Unidentified men installed banners on Pumpwell flyover and Mangaluru Junction railway station renaming them after  Veer Savarkar, on Monday, August 16.

The development comes after SDPI workers on August 15, obstructed a procession during Independence Day celebrations organized by Kabaka gram panchayat, as the chariot carried a photo of Veer Savarkar. The SDPI workers insisted on displaying the photo of Tipu Sultan.

Also,  condemning the act, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal (BD) and Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) will stage protests on August 17 at 40 police stations across Dakshina Kannada.
