Moderate rainfall & cloudy skies in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: The intensity of rain has decreased in Dakshina Kannada district. On Sunday, the region experienced moderate rainfall, and the weather remained cloudy.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, an alert was in effect until 8:30 AM on August 5, but no further alerts have been issued. It is estimated that rainfall will be reduced further.
On Sunday, Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 28.3°C, which is 0.4°C below the average, and a minimum temperature of 23.1°C, which is 0.2°C below the average.
Rainfall Data
In the 24 hours ending on Sunday morning, the district received an average rainfall of 36.6 mm. Breakdown by regions: Belthangady 39.4 mm, Bantwal 32.6 mm, Mangaluru 28.6 mm, Puttur 28.9 mm, Sullia 36.6 mm, Moodbidri 55.7 mm, Kadaba 36.8 mm, Mulki 48.5 mm, and Ullal 36.6 mm.
Rain Damage
Due to the rain, one house was completely damaged and three were partially damaged in Bantwal taluk. A relief center was opened in Kadaba taluk, housing 31 people. In the Dakshina Kannada district, 28 electricity poles and 1.40 km of power lines were damaged.
Udupi District Receives Good Rainfall
Udupi: The district experienced good rainfall in several areas on Sunday, with intermittent rain in Kundapura, Udupi, Karkala, and Hebri.
Late Saturday night, there was heavy rain with strong winds in some areas. On Sunday morning, there was light rain around Udupi, Manipal, and Malpe. Continuous rain followed for a short period in the afternoon.
Several houses in various parts of the district were damaged by the rain. Udupi received 54.8 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending Sunday morning.
Dangerous Trees on Highway Removed
Puttur: On Sunday, dangerous trees and electric poles were removed from the Mani-Mysuru National Highway at Madyangala. Last Tuesday, heavy rain caused landslides in Shekhamale and Madyangala, halting traffic.
Locals had insisted on removing the dangerous trees and electric poles. The forest department and MESCOM removed these dangerous trees and poles accordingly.
