Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 72 on Saturday, September 17 with politicians and dignitaries extending their best wishes to him.

Wishing him, Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai took to Twitter and wrote, “Warm b’day wishes to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji. He has led us on a glorious journey of empowering the common man, reforming key sectors, ensuring the welfare of the poor, eliminating corruption, and redefining good governance. India has also earned its due place in the world arena.”

Meanwhile, Former CM BS Yediyurappa also extended wishes and wrote, “Warm birthday greetings to our beloved leader and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Your leadership, commitment and vision inspires the nation. My best wishes for your excellent health and a long life in leading the nation.”

“Warmest birthday greetings to PM Narendra Modi Ji. His people-centric governance, humanistic approach & considerate conviction help India scale new heights of glory. He thinks of the poor and farmers. I pray to Udupi Krishna to bless him with vigour and long life,” said MoS Shobha Karandlaje.

An RSS pracharak from a young age, Modi was drafted into the BJP’s organisation and later became Gujarat chief minister in 2001.

Since then, he has achieved the unique feat of never losing the state and now national election when he has been the face of the party.

He led the BJP to win in three consecutive Gujarat assembly polls in 2002, 2007 and 2012 and then in the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 and 2019.
