Molestation on city bus: Police file suo moto case, form spl teams to nab accused

Mangaluru: A day after a woman took to social media to call out her molester, the police have decided to file a suo moto case in the matter.
In the post that went viral on social media, the woman stated that its not easy to be a woman while narrating her ordeal on how a man touched her inappropriately, and none of the other passengers, bus staff came to her help.
Taking note of the incident, city commissioner N Shashi Kumar informed on Saturday informed that police had formed special teams to nab the accused
The victim has been contacted and she is willing to register a case, he told media persons.
Further addressing the concerns over womens’ safety in public transport, Shashi Kumar said that in this particular case the driver and conductor of the private bus will be questioned. A meeting will be held with the bus owners’ association to facilitate a good and safe transport system, he said.
Police personnel, dressed in plain clothes will be deployed at public places for ensuring woman’s safety, he added.
