Mangaluru: In the backdrop of the increase in the cases of monkey fever in the Western Ghats, proper precautionary measures need to be taken in Dakshina Kannada district. With this aim, a separate whatsapp group needs to be created for the continuous transmission of information, directed the district administration.
With the aim to take precaution, the officials of the health, forest and animal husbandry departments spoke at the meeting which was held at the DK ZP hall in this connection on Friday January 18th.
With the increase in cases in Shimoga district, care needs to be taken. A separate whatsapp group needs to be created and on finding the carcass of a monkey, information regarding the steps taken and any other information needs to be shared through this, they said.
Karkala: Several precautionary steps
In the backdrop of monkey deaths throughout the taluk, a coordination meeting was held with the officials of various departments which was presided by the Tahsildar on Thursday. During the meeting several decisions were taken in connection to several precautionary measures.
65 patients released from the hospital
Altogether 98 patients from Sagar and its surrounding areas in Shimoga district had been admitted to KMC hospital in Manipal for suspected monkey fever of which 65 people have received treatment and have been released. 33 patients are receiving treatment, informed a release from the hospital.
