Moodabidri: The destruction by the incessant Monsoon rains continues in the district. A huge banyan tree was uprooted by the gale winds in the early morning of July 8.
The banyan tree near the Thodar junction beside the National Highway 169 crashed onto the fruit shop constructed below it.
The tree blocked the highway for some time. An operation is in progress, with the help of locals, to remove the tree from the highway.
Meanwhile, temporary arrangements have been made for traffic flow until the debris is removed.
