Monsoon to start early in Karnataka due to Cyclone Yaas

Bengaluru: Monsoon in Karnataka is expected to start four days before the forecasted date of June 3 or 4 because of the weather effect caused by Cyclone Yaas.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) had projected the southwest monsoon to arrive in Kerala on May 31 and a few days later in Karnataka.
However, weather experts are not sure of the additional effects the cyclone will cause on the weather.
As per the earlier forecast, the State would receive above-normal rainfall during the normal June to September monsoon season with coastal districts and north-interior parts receiving most of it.
South-interior Karnataka is likely to receive normal rainfall.
It was also forecasted that as the State already received good pre-monsoon showers, the monsoon rains will not be accompanied by lightning and thunder.
