Moodbidri: Father arrested for sexual assault on minor daughter

Moodbidri: A 55-year-old man has been arrested under the POCSO Act on accusations of sexually assaulting his minor daughter and impregnating her.

It is gathered that the accused, who works as a labourer, had allegedly assaulted his daughter at home about 6 months ago.

The matter came to light when the victim, a high school student, was referred to Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangaluru due to health issues. During the medical check-up, the girl was found to be pregnant.

At first, the accused tried to mislead the police investigation by blaming another person. However, when the police intensified the investigation, he confessed. A case has been registered at Mangaluru Women’s Police Station.

It is gathered that the accused is originally Karkala, and had built a house and settled in a government land of a village in Moodbidire Taluk about a decade ago. He has a wife and two daughters.
