Bengaluru: To meet the growing population, doctors preached that there is a need of more ambulances in the city.
The doctors, on World Ambulance Day, said that awareness of handling emergencies have reached the people but that isn’t enough.
Chairman of Manipal Hospital Dr. Sudarshan Ballal has witnessed incidents where people gather and click pictures of the accident instead of calling any emergency help lines number.
He added that the hospital receives more than 25 emergency cases every day. It is also observed that two wheeler riders don’t make way to the ambulance in the time of emergency. Ambulances should be considered holy at such situations says Dr. Ballal.
According to the doctors, an ambulance should contain equipment such as ventilator, oxygen cylinders, mini ICU, Bluetooth connectivity with the command centre of the hospital among others, as well as paramedics who can provide first aid.
With the increasing population and traffic movements, there is a necessity of more number of ambulances at the time of emergency. An ambulance driver’s job is beyond any gratitude as they witness the grief of the patient’s relatives.
