Madikeri: In the backdrop of the torrential rains, cracks have appeared on Ayyappabetta at Virajpet causing much fear and as a precautionary measure, more than 50 families which are residing here have been shifted to safer locations.

Officials from the mines and geology department have visited the location, inspected the development and advised the local administration to clear the houses located at the foothill. Cracks have also appeared on the land at Karugundi village as well.

The ground near Ainmane house belonging to a family in Napanda village has collapsed. A crack of a width of more than half-a-foot has appeared on the land around 100 meters away from the ancient Ainmane. The rear side of Ainmane has suffered cracks and also damaged the house. The appearance of the cracks of the level land has given cause for concern.
