Most Dakshina Kannada students cross Ukraine border

Mangaluru: Many students amongst 18 people of Dakshina Kannada origin who were stranded in war-torn Ukraine have managed to cross the border successfully.

As per sources among 18 students for Dakshina Kannada, two are traveling to Kharkiv railway station and three to Hungary.

Meanwhile, five are in Hungary, four in Romania, three in Slovakia, and one in Poland.

Speaking to Udayavani Prithviraj, a student from the Bikarnakatte said, “I took a train and reached Budapest on Wednesday. I decided to travel as suggested by the Indian embassy. There were as many as 500 Indian students on the train I traveled.”

Another student from Bejai, Anusha’s parents informed that their daughter crossed Ukraine border and reached Romania airport. “We are a little relieved now as our daughter is in constant contact with us. She is currently taking refuge in a basketball court near the airport in Romania with 300 other Indian students.”
