Mother kills daughter by drowning in bathtub, attempts to kill self

Bengaluru: An incident of a mother killing her daughter by drowning her in a bathtub and later trying to kill herself has come to light on Tuesday, August 22.

The deceased child is Sanyukta (3) and the mother who tried to commit suicide is Gayatri Devi (24), a resident of Gururaj Layout at Doddanekundi.

Reportedly, on Saturday, August 20, Gayatri Devi’s husband Narendran, an accountant by profession, had left for Tamil Nadu on duty. In the wee hours of Sunday, August 21, when he returned home, he found his daughter’s body in the bathtub and his wife in a hung position.

Later, she was rushed to the nearby hospital. Her health condition is said to be stable.

Meanwhile, the police sources said that Gayatri Devi might have been going through depression.

Currently, a case has been registered in the HAL Police Station.
