Mountaineer dies enroute to Mt Bhagirathi-II

Bengaluru: A member of a mountaineering team from here died at Bhojwasa while on their way to Mt Bhagirathi-II peak in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand early on Thursday.

Bharat Ashok was part of the five-member team of climbers from Bengaluru. He fell sick at Nandan Van en route the peak, the State Emergency Operation Centre said.

Ashok was taken by his fellow mountaineers to Bhojwasa, where he died at around 2 am. The team had started its expedition on September 7.
