Udupi MP Kota Srinivasa Poojary has urged Union Minister JP Nadda to approve the establishment of a well-equipped medical college in Udupi district. He made this appeal during a meeting with the Union Minister on Friday, December 13.

In his request, Poojary highlighted that Udupi district, with around 167 gram panchayats and a population of 1.5 million, is a significant area that includes key educational institutions, religious sites, and tourist attractions. He emphasized the need for a medical college to cater to the district’s growing healthcare demands. He pointed out that a government medical college would not only promote the health sector but also provide opportunities for economically disadvantaged and talented students from underprivileged families to pursue medical education.

Poojary further explained that the establishment of a government medical college would lead to the appointment of specialist doctors, who could provide essential services at the district hospital, thus improving healthcare for the people of Udupi. He urged the Union Minister to consider the proposal and grant approval for the establishment of a well-equipped government medical college in the district.

Responding to the request, Minister Nadda assured that the matter would be reviewed and that the possibility of establishing a government medical college in Udupi district would be thoroughly examined.
