Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Thursday inaugurated two new Oxygen plants at Wenlock Hospital.
Speaking during the occasion, Nalin said, “Earlier around 2.5KL of oxygen was sufficient at the Wenlock Hospital every day. However, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for medical oxygen has increased. The new oxygen plants will produce oxygen in large amounts and prevent scarcity of oxygen in the future.”
” I am happy that the Wenlock government hospital has more facilities than a private hospital. Dakshina Kannada district is now capable of facing the pandemic wave in the future. I would like to thank our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Health Minister K Sudhakar and MLA S Angara for their support.”
DC K V Rajendra said, “Although the entire country faced oxygen shortage during the second wave of the pandemic, Dakshina Kannada district did not face any such issues. We were receiving regular oxygen supplies from other districts and also from Middle Eastern countries. But in order to be prepared for the third wave new oxygen plants have been installed in Wenlock. In total, 16 oxygen-producing plants with PSA technology will be installed in the district.”
MLA Vedavyas Kamath, District Health officer Kishore Kumar and others were also present.
