Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has become the most subscribed YouTuber, surpassing the music company T-Series.

The American YouTuber announced the milestone on Sunday via a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he shared a picture showcasing the latest subscription figures. MrBeast’s YouTube channel now boasts 267 million subscribers, compared to T-Series’ 266 million.

In his post, MrBeast declared that he has “avenged” Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie. The note attached to his post read, “After 6 years we have finally avenged Pewdiepie.” For context, MrBeast had previously expressed his support for PewDiePie, saying last year, “I’m doing this for Pewdiepie.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk was among the first to congratulate MrBeast, writing, “Wow, congrats!” on X. Another user expressed their excitement, saying, “I’m literally shaking and crying right now I can’t believe we finally did it.” Some fans even suggested that the next target should be reaching 1 billion subscribers.

Last month, MrBeast had issued a challenge to the Chief Executive Officer of T-Series for a boxing match as the subscription gap between their channels narrowed. Sharing the subscriber count update on X, the 26-year-old wrote, “I challenge the CEO of T-Series to a boxing match.” T-Series is led by Chairman and Managing Director Bhushan Kumar, though the CEO’s name is not listed on the company’s official website.

This achievement is reminiscent of the rivalry between PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, and T-Series. PewDiePie was once the highest-earning YouTuber, known for his video game commentaries. He briefly held the title of the most subscribed YouTuber before being surpassed by T-Series. In 2017, PewDiePie’s career faced a setback when Disney severed ties with him due to controversial content in some of his videos. In 2020, PewDiePie announced a hiatus from posting on YouTube, at which time he had 102 million subscribers.
