Mangaluru: “Maguvina Tandhe” chapter from the official Kannada language textbook “Nudi Noopura” prescribed for the third semester of BCom students has been withdrawn by Mangalore University (MU), following uproar regarding the lesson on social media.

A few students and professors alleged that the lesson portrayed and justified extra martial and illicit relationships as normal. The lesson was based on a story written by Late Mattara Vittal Hegde.

As the textbook pages went viral on social media and garnered much criticism, the university released the circular stating the lesson “Maguvina Tandhe” would be withdrawn from the textbook. The university however, has not mentioned the reason for the withdrawal of the lesson.
