Mudhol: Continuous rains submerge bridges

Team Udayavani, Oct 19, 2024, 9:38 AM IST

Heavy rains over the past week have led to increased water flow from the Hidkal Reservoir into the Ghataprabha River, causing several bridges in the Mudhol region to be submerged and disrupting public movement.

Currently, water is flowing over the bridge-cum-barrage on the Mirji-Mahalingpur road, however, vehicle traffic has not yet been halted. If the situation continues, there is concern that traffic may come to a standstill by this evening or tomorrow.

At the bridge-cum-barrage near Jeergal, water is rushing over with great force, leading authorities to suspend traffic on this route as a precautionary measure.

The continuous rainfall has severely impacted daily life in the region, with the Ghataprabha River expected to overflow soon, signaling potential further disruptions.
