Mudigere: The sudden appearance of a lone tusker at the seventh turn of Charmadi Ghat created a scare among the commuters and motorists traveling along the Kottigehar to Mangaluru route on Wednesday evening. The traffic on the busy route came to a halt for a while due to the incident.
At approximately 4:30 pm, a wild elephant emerged onto the road at the seventh turn of Charmadi Ghati. On noticing the pachyderm, the driver of the Mangaluru-Hassan KSRTC bus travelling on the route stopped the bus at a safe distance.
After a while, the elephant shifted to another section of the road and came to a halt. Following this, vehicle traffic came to a standstill for nearly half an hour, waiting for the situation to resolve.
Eventually, the elephant gradually moved to the side of the road, taking rest near a tree. This allowed the bus and other vehicles to cautiously proceed forward.
In light of this incident, the concerned public has voiced demands for the forest authorities to take appropriate actionand ban traffic at Charmadi Ghat during night hours.
