Mudigere: Mounting a scathing criticism of BJP, K. Jayaprakash Hegde said that people have “lost their peace of mind” in the last 10 years of BJP’s governance and are poised to deliver a “resolute response” in the polls.

He addressed several gatherings in Banakal, Kasaba, Goni Beedu, Balur Hobli areas of the taluk.

Hegde stated, “People cannot be deceived by claims of a corruption-free administration. The nation is well aware of the Supreme Court’s revelations regarding corruption in the Election Bond scandal.”

Highlighting unfulfilled promises and stagnant development, Hegde lamented, “Despite the approval for widening the Kadur-Mangalore National Highway during my tenure as MP, the BJP has failed to execute the project even after a decade. The plight of the people persists, underscoring the inefficacy of MP Shobha Karandlaje, who also served as Union Minister.”

Furthermore, Hegde criticized the BJP’s governance, asserting, “Rising prices of essential commodities, including petrol, have deprived people of a decent livelihood. Still, BJP is under the illusion that it can win by merely invoking Modi’s name without tangible development initiatives.”

Echoing Hegde’s sentiments, MLA Nayana Motamma highlighted the state government’s achievements, citing the benefits derived from the implementation of five guarantees. Motamma underscored Hegde’s track record of service during his tenure as MP, instilling confidence in seeking the electorate’s support.

“The people have benefited from the five guarantees of the state government. Also, our candidate Jayaprakash Hegde has done a lot of good work for the people during his 20-month tenure as MP. This gives us the courage to approach the people and ask for their votes. After realising the dismal track record of MP Shobha Karandlaje BJP workers themselves drove her away with ‘Go Back Shobha Campaign’,” she claimed.

Former Minister B.B. Ningaiah, former MLA M.P. Kumaraswamy, and other party members rallied behind Hegde, condemning the BJP’s governance and advocating for a change in leadership.
