Mudipu: Missing mother, infant found dead in Netravathi River; suicide suspected

Mudipu: The bodies of a mother and her one-year-old child were found on Friday night in the Netravathi river near Harekala Kadavu, in the Konaje police station limits. It is suspected that the mother may have ended her life by jumping into the river with the child.
The deceased woman has been identified as Chaitra (30), wife of Nagaraj, a resident of Adyar. She had walked across the bridge with her one-year-old child Diyansh around noon on Friday at Harekala Kadavu. Locals noticed them walking near the river.
In the afternoon, her family noticed her disappearance and started a search for her. A missing case was registered at the Mangaluru Rural police station in this regard.
At around 8.30 pm, the bodies of the woman and the child were found in the Netravathi River near Harekala Kadavu.
Konaje police have reached the spot and are investigating. The exact reason for the death is yet to be revealed.
The family had reportedly celebrated Diyansh’s first birthday in an ashram on Thursday.
