Mulki: 3 children dead after suicidal man pushes his wife and kids into well

Mulki: In a horrible turn of events, A suicidal man attempted to kill himself after pushing his wife and three children into a well at Talipady of Punaroor village here on Thursday evening.
The locals rescued the man and his wife but his children couldn’t be saved.
According to the police complaint, the accused, identified as Hitesh Shettigar, pushed his 3 children – Rashmita(13), Uday(11) and Dakshit(04) – into the well near his house when they returned home from school on Thursday.
His wife Lakshmi, was not at home at the time. When Lakshmi returned from work and she inquired about her children, he told her that they were hiding somewhere.
Lakshmi tried searching for them and found them in the well. Hitesh allegedly pushed her in, saying “you an also join them”. Later he too jumped into the well.
Hitesh is a daily wage labourer and his wife eked a living by rolling beedies until recently. To supplement their income she had taken up cleaner’s job at a shop, the complaint says.
Meanwhile, Mulki police have registered a case and have taken Hitesh into custody. Investigation is underway.
