Mulki: Container-car collision claims one life

Surathkal: A person lost his life after the car he was driving crashed into a container truck at Kolnadu near Mulki on early on Wednesday morning April 1st. The deceased is identified as Umashanker (52) from Bengaluru.

The deceased was travelling in his Land Rover Discovery car with a load of chocolates from Mangaluru when the over-speeding car crashed into the rear of a container truck at Kolnadu. The truck was on its way towards Gujarat. The impact of the collision killed Umashanker on the spot. He was sitting on the left side of the car driver.

The car driver Rajaram and another passenger identified as Amit Rao who was sitting in the rear have been injured. The impact of the collision has smashed Umashanker’s skull.

Air bags fail to deploy

At the instance of the impact between the vehicles, the air bags should have been deployed instantaneously, but the car failed. This has created suspicions around the safety provided by the car.
