Mulki: A young leopard that entered a house on Venkataramana Temple Road in Mulki was captured by forest officials on Saturday night. The incident has heightened fear among locals, who suspect that more leopards may be present in the area.

For the past few days, rumors of leopards roaming the Mulki region were circulating. These rumors were confirmed when the cub was found and captured.

The cub was spotted in the kitchen of the house belonging to Sadananda Kotian and his wife, Sheela, located near the Ranger Plot on Venkataramana Temple Road. The forest department officials from Moodbidri successfully captured the cub with their team.

Sadananda and Sheela had been away when the cub entered their home. They returned around 9:30 PM and noticed strange noises from the kitchen and adjacent rooms. Upon investigation, they saw an animal inside the house. The couple immediately alerted their neighbors, who in turn informed the police.

Mulki police confirmed the presence of the cub and called the forest department for assistance. The forest officials captured the leopard late at night.

A large crowd gathered to see the leopard, making crowd control a challenging task for the police.

Officials estimated the leopard cub to be around one and a half years old. They warned that the presence of the cub indicates that adult leopards could still be in the area. The public has been urged to remain cautious, leading to widespread concern among the residents.
