Mulki:As per the order of the central government’s environment department, the Mulki city panchayath has decided to stop use of any type of plastic bags within the city panchayat limits. The decision was taken at the monthly meeting which was presided over by Mulki city panchayat president Sunil Alva.

The public will be sensitized and warned on not to use plastic bags in the first phase. On repeat offence, legal action will be taken against the offender, informed the president.

Almost 40% of the wastage at the wastage management unit in the city is made up of unclassified plastic items. Since this is a problem of the management system, the members must give support to the officials for the next operation.

The meeting took decision to run action plans for a few works with the S.F.C. grant of 93 lakh rupees from the government and importance will be given to the primary problems in the city. The meeting gave permission to Karnadu Young Star Association to construct a bus stop near Karnadu bypass.
