Mulki: Service road construction along the sides of the National Highway from Mukka to Hejamadi will be expedited, assured MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta on Sunday.
During a public interaction in Mulki, the MP discussed various civic issues and developmental needs with local residents. He stated that the service road project aims to reduce the number of accidents in the area.
This marked the MP’s first interaction with Mulki residents after becoming a Lok Sabha member. The discussion covered several developmental requirements of Mulki town and its taluk.
The MP informed that Mulki is already benefiting from the Central Government’s AMRUT Water Project. The pipeline connections have been completed, ensuring accessible drinking water for the residents.
The tender process for the Mukka-Hejamadi service road project is complete, and construction is set to begin soon, he added.
Complaints About Vishwakarma Scheme
Addressing a complaint about non-responsiveness from bank managers regarding the Vishwakarma Scheme, the MP directed the complainant to provide detailed information for further action.
President of the Taxi Drivers’ and Owners’ Association, Prakash Shenoy, requested toll exemptions at the Hejamadi toll plaza for cars and tempos from Mulki Park. The MP assured immediate steps by forwarding the list of vehicles to the concerned authorities.
On the demand for a second platform at Mulki Railway Station, the MP acknowledged the issue and stated that discussions have been held with the concerned ministers. However, financial constraints faced by the Konkan Railway Corporation are delaying the development. He noted that the Indian Railways’ involvement in such projects is technically unfeasible.
The MP mentioned that a request for a stop for the Mangaluru-CST Express train at Mulki has already been submitted. He assured that efforts are underway to ensure a favorable decision, which will benefit nearby areas of Udupi district as well.
The MP emphasized the need for merging the Konkan Railway Division with the Indian Railways Division to facilitate development. He urged the public to pressurize the state government to support this proposal, stating that the Central Government is committed to the development of the Konkan Railway.
