Mulki: Several cases of malaria

Mulki: Malaria fever is plaguing Karnadu Sadashiva Nagara, Bijapura colony and Ashraya colony within the city panchayat limits since the last two months. Of the patients who have visited Mulki government hospital for treatment in the past two months, 25 of them have been tested positive for malaria, informed the medical officer here.
A team of 10 persons from the city panchayat and the Health Department are conducting survey in malaria affected areas. They are also visiting houses for fogging within and around the houses as well as spraying medicine in drains. Presently malaria cases are in control.
22 persons still undergoing treatment
In the span of the last two month, 25 persons infected with malaria have been admitted at the hospital of whom, 3 have been cured and sent back home. The remaining 22 patients are still under treatment, informed sources for the hospital.
The public should not heap garbage in the vicinity of their homes or in front do the shops in the city and make sure that there is no stagnant water in used tender coconut shells and tires. Proper guidance in this connection has been provided, informed the city panchayat.
