Mumbai police is well-known for its social media presence. This time they managed to garner attention from netzines with their savage replies.

Mumbai police shared a post on New Year’s eve advising people to stay home during the night curfew.

They tweeted,” Single and ready to mingle but ONLINE.” and shared a screenshot of a chat.

The tweet went viral and garnered around 1,800 likes.

One of the users decided to play along and tried to outsmart Mumbai police and wrote,” What if I reach her place by 11pm and stay there overnight?”

Mumbai police was quick to notice this. They tweeted with an apt reply, “We hope you have taken her consent else we have an alternate accommodation for the night in mind for you!”

Another user quite impressed by this replied,” Great to see consent getting mainstreamed.”

To which Mumbai police replied, “It’s basic. It’s primary. It’s non-negotiable,” and added hashtags, #ANoMeansNo, #SafetyFirstOn31st, #ConsentMatters to the reply.
