Mumbai: Teacher gets stuck in school lift, dies

Mumbai: A 26-year-old woman, working as a teacher at St Mary’s English High School in Mumbai’s Malad died after she got trapped in the door of the school lift.

The unfortunate incident took place on Friday afternoon when the victim Jenel Fernandes was waiting for the lift to go to the staff room on the second floor. However, when she entered the lift, the doors got closed and she got trapped with one leg inside the lift.

The school staff rushed to her rescue upon hearing her screams and dragged her out. A severely injured Jenel was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead on arrival.

The police have registered an accidental death report and are probing the matter.
