Mundgod: A three-year-old girl died after falling into a water-filled pit at a brick kiln in Lakkoli village here on Friday (December 22) evening.
The deceased identified as Manvita Mallikarjun of Indoora village. Her mother works as a laborer at the kiln.
On Friday, the woman had taken Manvita along with her to the kiln. Manvita was playing and accidentally fell into the water-filled pit.
Labourers rushed to her rescue and she was taken to the taluk hospital. It is alleged that though Manvita had died while reaching the hospital the staff there told to take her to KIMS for treatment.
The brick kiln owner tried to cover up the incident. A case was registered at the police station here on Saturday.
