Murder accused absconding since 7 yrs nabbed

  • Kanchana Textiles manager Deepak’s murder case

Mangaluru: The main accused in the the murder of case of Deepak, manager of Kanchana Textiles near Rao and Rao Circle in the city in 2012, was arrested by the city police on Thursday February 14. The arrested person is identified as Mohammed Ashraf alias Achchu (40) from Ullal and was on the run since 7 years.  

It is alleged that Ashraf played a lead role in Deepak’s murder. Soon after the murder, Ashraf fled to a foreign country in 2012. However, anti-rowdy squad received information that the accused was often seen in Ullal since a month and hence was nabbed in an operation led by the city (south) sub division assistant police commissioner. The accused was later handed over to Bunder police.

Search for three more accused

Three more accused in the case are still absconding and there is information that two of them are in Kerala. The accused are being searched based on the information given by the arrested accused.
