Murder attempt of GP member Riyaz:Udupi police arrest nine

Udupi: Nine people, who were allegedly involved in the murder attempt of Pudu gram panchayat member Muhammed Riyaz near Malpe port have been arrested by the Udupi police on Friday, June 28.
The miscreants brutally attacked Mohammed Riyaz with dangerous weapons near Malpe port on June 7. Riyaz suffered grievous injuries on his head, neck, hands and legs in the attack.
Two separate teams were formed by the town circle inspector and DCIB Udupi officials to trace the attackers. Additional police SP Kumarchandra and assistant SP Jayashankar T R led both the police teams in their investigation.
The arrested are identified as Mohammed Ismail (47), Mohammed Ghouse (33) from Valachil, Abdul Khyas (61), Mohammed Ashique alias Kochi (22) from Montepadavu, Mohammed Muneej (21) from Mudipoovami, Ansar (22) from Marnamikatte, Thowsir alias Patthonji (25) from Adyar, Mohammed Thouseef alias Thachu (25) from Farangipet and Mohammed Musthaq alias Mistha alias Bobby (23). The police have also seized the lorry, a car and three swords used for the crime.
Among the arrested, Mohammed Thowsir alias Pathonji has five attempt to murder cases registered against him in Bantwal rural police station, Kankanady police station, Kadri police station. Mohammed Thouseef alias Thachu is accused in cases are registered at Kadri police station, Bantwal rural police station, Punjalkatte police station and Mangaluru Urwa police station for extortion, robbery and murder attempt. Konaje police station has a case registered against Mohammed Musthaq for robbery.
