Ullal Police have arrested three persons in connection with a murderous assault on a man who was recently released on bail near the Jio Petrol Pump on National Highway 66 at Ucchila K.C. Road.
The arrested individuals are Annappa Swami (24) from Surathkal Idya, Sachin (24) from Naral Talapady, and Kushith (18) from Kambalapadavu Padal Kodi.
The victim Asif had earlier been arrested following an altercation with Arjun Madur, a Hindu leader at the Ullal Police Station where they had gone to settle a road accident case involving Sharath Kumpala.
Asif was granted bail on November 7 and was on his way home to Hosanagara in Kerala after being released from Mangalore Jail. Around 9:30 PM, as his car reached KC Road, eight helmet-clad men on motorbikes armed with eggs and swords intercepted him.
According to the complaint, one of the attackers struck Asif’s car window with a sword, causing significant damage. As the attackers continued to pursue him, Asif drove straight to Talapady toll gate and then sought protection at Manjeshwar Police Station.
He was later advised to file a report with Ullal Police, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred.
