Bengaluru: The Akhila Karnataka Hindu Temples’ Priests, Agamikas, and Upaadhivantas Union has urged the state government to provide a minimum of Rs 5 lakh life insurance for priests and employees working under the Muzrai Department’s jurisdiction.
The union also demanded an increase in the monthly honorarium to Rs 10,000.
Led by union president and Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and association president Prof. Dr. K.E. Radhakrishna, representatives submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
They also requested the revocation of the rule mandating the retirement of temple employees at 65 years of age. Additionally, the union sought further development of ‘A’ and ‘B’ category Muzrai temples by strengthening their administrative structures.
