Mangaluru: Grade A muzrai temples from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district have preparations ongoing for the upcoming mass marriages between April 26 and May 25.

Under the ‘Saptapadi’ mass marriage scheme of the state government couples registered for the marriage will receive 8 grams of gold for the Mangalasutra, Rs 10,000 to the bride and Rs 5000 to the groom on the marriage day.

Grade A temples are those which do not receive grants from the state government for the mass marriages as their income is well enough to sponsor the mass marriages. There are 20 and 15 Grade A temples in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts respectively.

Registration for the mass marriages will start in the first week of March and will end on March 27.
