Mysore Zoo to Celebrate its 125 Anniversary from Aug 10

Mysuru: Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, popularly known as Mysore Zoo in Mysuru is all set to celebrate its 125 anniversary in 2017. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to inaugurate various events to be organized as part of the celebrations on August 10 at zoo premises.
Programmes including, a convention of veterinary doctors, exhibition of wildlife photographs and other programmes will be organized as part of 125 anniversary celebration of the zoo, the zoo authorities said.
The zoo is also plans to adopt Gadag zoo and is expected to release Rs 124 crore to Gagad zoo on occasion of its anniversary celebrations. During 2015-16, Mysuru zoo received a sum of Rs 35 lakh through its animal adoption scheme. This year, the zoo officials expect that the income from adoption scheme could move up to Rs 40 lakh. The zoo administration is also planning to construct a tourist hub in the city for tourists.
