Mysterious death of Kasargod teacher; two held

Kasargod: Days after the dead body of a teacher, who reportedly went missing on Januray 14 was recovered from near Peruvadu beach at Kumble on January 16, crime branch police arrested two persons in connection with the case.

Roopashree (44), teacher of Miyapadav higher secondary school was found dead under mysterious circumstances and a case of unnatural death was registered by police. However owing to pressure from her family who suspected foul play in the death, the case was handed over to crime branch.

The police have now arrested Roopashree’s colleague Venkataramana Karanatha (50) and another person identified as Niranjan in this connection.

During the preliminary investigations Venkataramana is said to have admitted to be closely acqauinted with Roopashree and the duo were involved in few financial dealings together. A rift had developed between the two recently. On January 14 Venkataramana invited Roopashree to his house where he murdered her by immersing her face in bucket filled with water. He later took Niranjan’s help to dispose off her body.

Strands of hair found from his car has been sent for a forensic test it is gathered.
