Andhra Pradesh: One person has died and more than 450 have been admitted to hospital with a mystery illness in Andhra Pradesh.Officials are investigating the cause of the illness, which swept through the town of Eluru over the weekend.
A central team is set to visit the state on Tuesday to investigate this mysterious illness, said an office memorandum issued by the Union health ministry on Monday. The team will be submitting a report by tomorrow evening.
Tests were being done to try to determine the cause of the illness, including looking into possible food or water contamination or airborne poisoning.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday visited Eluru Government Hospital and assured them of all help.
Currently, 157 patients are receiving treatment while 168 others have been discharged.
