Mysuru: This year’s Dasara exhibition, which invites visitors from local as well as foreign states and countries, was inaugurated albeit later than usual. However, the exhibition failed to impress the public.
District in-charge Minister S.T. Somashekar inaugurated the yearly exhibition by cutting the tape. Speaking on the occasion, Somashekar urged the public to visit the 90-day exhibition in large numbers. He also promised that this year’s exhibition will be filled with a number of specialties.
The entrance of the exhibition is beautifully decorated and pleasing to the eye. However, the situation within the exhibition ground was quite dull and dreary. Despite the late beginning, it was claimed that 80 percent of the stalls of government and ZP outlets were filled up. However, the visitors were shocked to see not even half the stall were open for business.
Despite the inauguration, several works seem to be pending. Only about one-fifth of the food stalls were open. Many more were being set up even after the formal inauguration. Similar was the case with stalls for clothing and Children’s toys. The amusement park had only a few rides, with many of them still in the process of assembly.
