Mysuru Dasara – Elephant Weight Check: Abhimanyu remains ‘Captain’; Bhima takes 2nd place

Mysuru: In the second phase of the elephant weight check held on Monday, all 14 elephants of the Mysuru Dasara elephant squad were weighed. As expected, Captain Abhimanyu emerged as the heaviest elephant, while Bhima, who had gained an impressive 435 kg since the last weighing, secured the second spot.
Abhimanyu, as usual, demonstrated his strength, weighing 5,560 kg in the first weight check held on August 21. He weighed 5,820 kg in the second check, showing a weight gain of 260 kg. Among the younger elephants, Bhima from Matti Godu camp stood out by gaining 435 kg in just one and a half months. His weight increased from 4,945 kg in the first check to 5,380 kg in the second.
Ekalavya, a first-time participant in the Dasara, saw his weight increase from 4,730 kg to 5,095 kg. Prashanth’s weight went up from 4,875 kg to 5,240 kg, Sugriva’s from 5,190 kg to 5,545 kg, and Lakshmi’s weight saw a slight increase from 2,625 kg to 2,480 kg. The senior member of the elephant squad, Varalakshmi, gained only 60 kg in the past one and a half months.

Record-Breaking Milking: Cow Yields 40.84 Litres of Milk!
Mysuru: As part of the Dasara celebrations, the State-Level Milking Competition was held at the J.K. Grounds, organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services. A cow owned by Ramachandra Reddy of Kaggallipura, Anekal taluk, clinched first place by yielding a massive 40.84 liters of milk.
A total of eight cows participated in the competition. Prizes were awarded to the cow that produced the highest quantity of milk during the morning and evening milking sessions.
