Mysuru: Doddakavalande police booked five minors under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) for allegedly sexually assaulting a Class 3 student and recording the video of the incident.

The accused — two of whom are First PUC students, two Class 10 students, and another one a Class 9 student have been sent to the observation home in Mysuru.

Police said that the accused circulated the video, recorded on their mobile phones, in their WhatsApp groups. After the video went viral, the police rounded up the boys and during the probe, they confessed to the crime.

Police said that the accused took the boy studying in Class 3 to an isolated place in the village on the pretext of playing and then sexually assaulted him. While two of the accused assaulted the boy, the other three recorded the act on their mobiles.
