A 55-year-old man who was battling depression after the death of his wife and daughter, and the imprisonment of his son, died at his home in Hirikyatanahalli here.
The deceased is identified as Satish.
Reportedly Satish’s daughter Dhanushree was in a relationship with a youth from another community.
When Satish’s son Nitish discovered this, he took Dhanushree and his mother Anita on a bike to the Maruru lake near the village. There, he allegedly pushed his sister into the lake. Anita jumped into the lake in a bid to rescue her drowning daughter but tragically drowned.
This incident took place on January 24 this year. A complaint was lodged against Nithish at the rural police station, and he was taken into judicial custody.
Since then, Satish lived alone and fell into depression. On Tuesday, he passed away at home. His funeral was held in his native village.
