Mysuru: Man crushed under tipper while escaping cops; outraged public beat up cops

Mysuru: A motorbike rider was crushed under a tipper when he tried to escape from the traffic police who were checking the vehicles.

The deceased has been identified as Devaraju (43) from Kallenahalli, Hampapura in H D Kote taluk in the district and the incident took place near RMP Circle in the city on Monday, March 22.

Devaraju who saw police checking the vehicles near RMP Circle tried to avoid the checking and took a U-turn, following which he lost control over his vehicle and fell down. A tipper that was behind crushed him instantly.

The people at the spot attacked three policemen including an assistant sub-inspector of police found on the spot along with damaging the police patrol vehicle.

The police resorted to light lathi-charge to disperse the angry crowd.

The police informed that they were not at fault and that the spot where the accident occurred was 200 meters away from the place where vehicles were checked.

Two of the policemen have been hospitalized.
